On 19 October 2026, photographer Petra Rainer will open her exhibition “Our Factory” at the data:room by occursus, bringing back into these historic halls the stories of the people behind the products during the heyday of Vorarlberg's industry.
Through deeply personal portraits taken during day and night shifts, the photographs offer insights into the different working environments of 11 major companies in Vorarlberg: spinning mills, embroidery businesses, cable car engineering, lighting manufacture and the food industry. Some of these industries still shape Vorarlberg today; others have given way under pressure from cheaper production locations. The buildings have remained – as spaces full of history and as places that can accommodate new forms of life and encounters.
At the exhibition opening, we will talk to Petra Rainer about the creation and background of her book “Our Factory”, published in 2015. Afterwards, the images and their stories invite us to stroll, discover and exchange ideas together.
Host Urs Treuthardt is opening the data:room in Hall 2 of the former worsted spinning mill in Hard for an evening of historic atmosphere, enthusiasm for the future and hospitality put into practice.
Admission is free. Drinks are available to purchase on site, payable in cash.
